Auman, Nobel winner, orthodox jew
Haaretz:
Prof. Robert Aumann of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem was named co-winner of this year's Nobel Prize for Economics yesterday, thereby becoming the eighth Israeli to join this prestigious club, and the fourth in the last four years alone...
Though Aumann, an Orthodox Jew affiliated with the religious Zionist camp, has devoted his life to research and is not active in politics, acquaintances say that his political views are hawkish. He is a longtime member of Professors for a Strong Israel, a right-wing nonprofit organization that opposed the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. A Hebrew University employee said that during the evacuation of the settlements, he walked around campus wearing an orange ribbon - the symbol adopted by disengagement opponents.
