Lubavitch builds 9 mill. $ center!

lubavitch's hard work continues to pay dividends.

From the Chicago Sun Times :

It was once the site of a movie theater that played films like "Halloween 6" and "Speed 2." Before that it was an Art Deco Post Office and now it's an empty lot -- but not for long. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Thursday at the corner of Chestnut and Clark Streets for the Center for Jewish Life, a $9 million synagogue and community center that will be run by the orthodox Lubavitch Chabad..

The Lubavitch men wear beards, big fedora hats and long black coats. But they say they don't pressure other Jews to be like them. "Our approach is open and inclusive," said Benhiyoun. Non-Jews are welcomed and some attend Lubavitch classes, but they are not encouraged to convert...

Maybe Lakewood should seek some advice from Lubavitch on raising money for another girl's school. Though I doubt they are going to welcome non jews.

This is what I have always been saying : Chabad is schnorring at a professional level. How can they manage to move this much money and support all these people who neither work nor go to school? And since chabad has been around for so many years why hasn't intermarriage gone down? Why are there not more children going to jewish days schoools? Why has the jewish divorce rate gone up?

Your Chabad charitable money at work

If you're going to criticize chabad do it respectfuly, cognizant of all the hard work they do.

Chabad must do alot of hard work but I see no value in it. It must be difficult to harness this many people to go after a goal that cannot be attained.

They lost my respect when they turned the Rebbe into a figure who answers you prayers and gives you a dollar to give to charity.

I don't think anyone knows what success- or possibly negative impact- chabad's hard work has.
That they have become the stepchild of the chareide community is a great tragidy.
What ever your disagreement with them you must love them!

Thanks for the support YO.

It's nice to see Jewish Orthodoxy support other Jews.

And Rabbi Dennis Prager did a great job of that as well on http://tolife.com (the Californai Chabad Telethon this week.
