Frum owner of sports team

Cleveland Jewish News reports on Jews in sports today.

This stands out-

...Another notable happening this year was the purchase of the Minnesota Vikings franchise by Zygmunt Wilf, 55, believed to be the first Orthodox Jewish owner of a major sports team. The gentleman is an attorney and real estate developer from New Jersey who is, according to a newsletter published by Yeshiva University in New York, a leading philanthropist and proponent of Jewish causes throughout the world. In the Vikings executive structure, Wilf is an owner chairman...

I guess football ownership is appropriate considering the similaritiess betweenn the players and Orthodox Jews: They both cover their hair; woman watch from behind a fence; one group is 'always' trying to bring down the other.

H said he was observing the holidays and didn't know about it. He stated strongly it will not happen again, and instituted new policies.

Perhaps the article should have said the first Orthodox Jewish owner of a major sports team in North America.

Yosef Gutnick of Melbourne, Australia purchased the Melbourne football club (the Demons) in 1999.
