Lakewood bans kollel from internet

Taking the internet battle to the next level, every kollel man was sent a letter banning the internet at home without approval by one of the yeshiva's rabbonim.

Those caught in violation will be thrown out.

Could this massive step hold, last? Will it diminish future prospects of parnasah? Will it be ridiculed to the point of not being taken seriously?

Is there a viable alternative for preserving the town and Yeshiva as a makom, place of, torah?

Hmm

Of course it will hurt peoples chances for parnassah. Why is that even a question?

I don't chap. Why did they have to send them letters - aren't these the same conditions everyone in Lakewood is subject to? They don't trust the kollel guys to be the first to listen to them? How odd.

The takonos are for protecting the children. the letter is for protecting the yeshiva.
The question on parnasah is it worth the tradeoff.

As it is right now, I don't see a whole lot of kollel couples with a regular source of parnasah. In addition, it is very difficult for a woman to earn a living between children and after paying for day care that can support a family. The trade-off you are looking at may be one of a little parnassah vs. almost no parnassah. Why deny people the dignity of a hard earned dollar?

The internet allows many women to work from home and pull in income without the childcare costs. Why deny the responsible users something great?

In addition, the internet allows people to take college courses and continuing education courses online, rather than in person. I would think this would be encouraged, as traditional college certainly is not.

Can one eat a ham sandwich if it's for parnasah?

Can one work as an exotic dancer if it's for parnasah?
