New JCC in Rockland

...Construction has begun on the Jewish Community Campus of Rockland, which will bring together a host of community groups under one roof...
The JCC-Y plans to build a senior center, fitness center, teen lounge, art and ceramic studio, gymnasium, kosher Internet cafe and outdoor ball fields, community meeting rooms, classrooms and possibly two swimming pools.
Work, which includes raising part of the roof for the gym and replacing the heating and air conditioning system, will continue through the winter and spring.
To date, organizers have raised about half of the $25 million needed. Most of it has come primarily through million-dollar donations from four Rockland families, other private contributions and proceeds of the sale of the current JCC-Y quarters in Ramapo.
Once the renovation is completed, the facility will house the Jewish Federation of Rockland, Jewish Family Service of Rockland, the Center for Jewish Education of Rockland, the Rockland Jewish Reporter and Hadassah....
