Fire in lakewood school

A.P.P. :

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a the Tashbar of Lakewood school at 655 Princeton Ave.
A general alarm was sounded at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday and five fire companies responded, said John Stillwell, chief of the Lakewood Fire Department.
Lakewood police Detective Gregory Stafford Smith and Ocean County Fire Marshal Investigator William Gee are investigating. The damage was confined to the unisex bathroom of the school, said Robert A. Gasser, executive assistant Ocean County prosecutor.
There were no students in the building at the time of the fire, Gasser said, however, students had begun arriving at the school.
"It is deemed suspicious," Gasser said.
Sgt. Paul Daly said the fire was discovered because of a smoke condition. The location was in the basement.
"There were no injuries," Daly said. "I don't believe classes had started yet, but there were children on the property."
