Israel’s fervently Orthodox population will double by 2020, a leading demographer said.
Speaking this week to a Knesset committee, Hebrew University’s Sergio della Pergola said the population of haredim will reach 1 million and make up 17 percent of the Israeli population by that time. His forecasts were based on data showing that fervently Orthodox families have more children that other Israelis.
