Lakewood vaad endorsements

Surprising no one, but disappointing many, the Yeshiva controlled vaad endorsed Democrats Cunliffe and Coles for Township; John Corzine for Governor.

Old faces when we desperately need fresh new ideas.

On all major issues, from the war in Iraq to raising taxes, Corzine's votes and over-all ideology are diametrically opposed to the community's views.

What these candidates all have in common is this: they take Yeshiva's phone calls.

If only the vaad would do some seriously listening of their own.

Isn't it verboten for non-profits to endorse candidates?

Don't be silly. The vaad is in bed with the yeshiva and the builders, big time. They want a malleable township govt., meaning, one that will do the bidding of the yeshiva and the developers. Lowering taxes and exposing corruption is not in their best interests.

To add insult to injury, Republican Candidate Steve "Shlomo" Langert is a member of our Frum community and a friend of mine (davens in my shul). The Vaad was set to endorse him.I asked why the Vaad pulled the plug at the last minute he said, they(the Vaad) were threatened by the 2 individuals who own Yeshivas in Lakewood that if they don’t endorse Cunliffe they will destroy the town. They apparently cut a deal with Cunliffe for land in exchange for their endorsement. I as a resident of this town am quite embarrassed by all this. I hope others feel the same way and do what I will on Nov 8th . Take the democratic approach and VOTE!! for Langert and Gertner

Dear "Aron Kotler":
I understand yeshiva looking out for their interests.
Everyone else should too.
