Lakewood Dinner

Lakewood's money men are saying their (quite fancy) Dinner was very successful. Over 3,000 attendees.
Will know for sure if they duplicate it next year.

Is it worth it for everyone, or only if your regular dinner is a failure? Should mosdos who make a successful dinner change the format?

3000 attendees!!! WOW!!!
maybe they will not build the hockey stadium after all. They'll have enough money without it.

The oilam tried to go into R' Mattisyahu today to spaek to him about opposing the stadium but the Rebetzin said they need an apointment. I think they set one up.
I honestly think that AK bit one to big this time. Wait till R' Yosef Rosenblum hears about the yeshiva's land being given for a hockey stadium. It'll get exciting then.

"Wait till R' Yosef Rosenblum hears"
His vaad member "talmid" will never go tell him anything that would jepordise this talmids relation with AK (and this members power)
So good luck

I agree with the last poster. But to gang up on Burstyn they sic R' Y. Rosenblum. Its easy to fight with the little guys. But its hard to take on AK. Yep.

They never use anyone outside lakewood except when they have to. (Like if they can't make a convincing case even to the die-hards.)
But one day he will come back to haunt them, they establish R' Yosef as a daas torah from outside lakewood, and it will be hard to stop him again if SOMEONE can convince him.

The whole thing was a very sad affair that we just sat and watched. The chutzpa of the rulling class peaked with that event, and has been going wild ever since.
Right or wrong I think that we will suffer from the silence on that more than anything else.

The overnight daas torah knows how he became daas torah overnight.

Very good. And too true. Speak to old Gatesheaders. They are bemused (and amused) by the Lakewood love affair with Rabbi Matt.

What's the big deal about speaking with R' Yosef Shlit"a? Just buttonhole him after Shachris in Shaarei Yosher. You don't have to be a Talmid or Vaad member to talk to him. He also has some sensible children in town who can pass along a message.

"can' thei use the blue claws stadium?"

They probably could. But that wouldn't do anything for the guys feeding at the shissel.

At the "Shissel" it's already an "achilah gassah".

How much money, power, coruption etc all in a "shissel", nisht tzum gleibin.

How could they use the Blue Claws stadium?? Hockey is an _indoor_ sport, genius, and the Blue Claws stadium (a field, technically) is open air. The plan does have them sharing parking, though, which is why they need that particular 7 acre parcel to complete the site.
