Lakewood public school mess
APP:
LAKEWOOD — The school district's interim business administrator — already the target of an Attorney General's Office investigation into billing issues during a recent stint in Asbury Park — is now being blamed for a nearly $2 million budget gaffe in Plainfield.
Edward D. Kent, who's worked in Lakewood since July, declined to address the issue during a brief interview in his office Thursday. "I haven't heard anything as far as that goes," Kent said.
The problem in Plainfield — where Kent worked as interim business administrator from January to May — is that $1.8 million in funding for a charter school was left out of the district's 2005-06 budget when it was drafted earlier this year.
