Lakewood resource center

APP

The Lakewood Resource and Referral Center, already known as a place to get information on housing and social services issues, is trying to add health referrals to its daily work.
A bill pending before the state Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee would give the resource center $200,000 to provide "social and health services to the low-income and uninsured population of Lakewood."
But the bill may not be voted on before the current legislative term ends in early January.
Rabbi Yitzchok Halberstam, who runs the resource center, said it will remain focused on housing issues and social service referrals. But, he added, because many of those same people also qualify for low-cost medical services, it is natural for the agency to try to refer them to appropriate programs.
Those services include Ocean Health Initiative, a general health clinic for the region's under- and uninsured, and NJ FamilyCare, a federally and state-funded health insurance program created to provide affordable health coverage to New Jersey's uninsured children and certain low-income parents and guardians.
"It's making that connection click," Halberstam said Wednesday.
The future of the bill, sponsored by Sens. Robert W. Singer, R-Ocean, and Joseph Vitale, D-Middlesex, is unknown. The Senate committee has no more voting sessions slated this session, and Singer would not say whether he thought the funding would be approved. If the bill is not approved, it could be reintroduced next year.
If it is, Halberstam would likely team with a new Ocean Health Initiative clinic in the former Jamesway store along Route 9. Halberstam is a board member for OHI.
The new office is slated to open in roughly a year.....

The LRRC although that it does some good for the tzibur- was made to payback Halbershtam for his loyal service being a member of the Vaad. Everyone on the Vaad receives benefits for themselfs. How much does Halbershtam get paid? Why can't we have members on the Vaad that don't have Mosdos so that won't have a conflict of interest? Jamesway is a whole scandel for a different time.

I believe that *none* of the members of the Vaad should be the heads of mosdos. No builders either.

I believe that the people on the vadd should not be Rabbis or Rabbanim.
They have way way too much time on thier hands. They should have minimaly a 9-5 job and i dont mean keeruv work

Pay any of the big Kanoim enough money and he will become your Nachshon or maybe try making a nice hefty donation to BMG that should change things too
